Children waiting

Every year in Scotland there are over 200 children waiting for adoption.  These children, for a variety of reasons, can no longer live with their birth families and come from many different backgrounds.  Most children we place are over the age of 2 and have been living with foster carers.  Many have suffered abuse and neglect and need a great deal of love and support to help them benefit from the stability and security adoptive parents provide.

We are particularly looking for families for sibling groups, for school age children and for children with particular physical, medical and emotional needs.

Adopted children need to be helped to grow up knowing who they are and why they were adopted.  This is how children are best helped to develop a sense of identity and self-esteem.  When it is in the child's best interests, adopters and birth families keep in touch and exchange information about the child as he or she grows up.

For some children it will be important to have adoptive parents who can help them keep in touch with siblings or other relatives such as grandparents.
